Seminar: Legal framework for microfinance activities in Vietnam towards Financial Inclusion

On August 16th, 2019, Vietnam Microfinance Working Group in coordination with the branch of State Bank of Vietnam in Da Nang organized a seminar to discuss the legal framework for microfinance activities in Vietnam towards financial Inclusion with the participation of delegates from The SBV Banking Supervision Agency; Representatives of  the SBV in the central region: TP. Da Nang, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Ngai and Phu Yen provinces; Representative of Danang Women’s Union Association; Representative of Citi Foundation – Citibank Vietnam; Representatives of Social Funds: Ha Tinh Women Development Fund, Quang Binh Women Development Fund, Danang City Women Development Fund, Fund for capital support for workers and employees in Da Nang and Vietnam Microfinance Working Group.

The seminar took place successfully with the contents of the Report on the legal framework for microfinance activities and the operational status of MFIs in Vietnam and some recommendations for law makers. Then, the Representative of Citi Bank – Citi Bank Vietnam also gave speech about the role of microfinance from the CMA and the support for clients that got CMA award through building sale website.

Representatives of Social Funds gave opinions on the Fund’s operations and presented difficulties and issues that have been persisted and gave recommendations on regulation to suit the operation of the Funds in the coming time.

 

Those concern about the current legal framework were also explained by the representative of The SBV Banking Supervision Agency, they also gave some questions to have a realistic view of the activities of the social funds.
