2013 Vietnam Citi Microentrepreneurship Awards (CMA 2013) is held at Melia Hanoi Hotel on December 12th2013. The purpose of CMA is to recognize and honor the microentrepreneurs with initiatives in using loans effectively, the outstanding credit officers and the typical microfinance institutions that have significantly contributed to the implementation of the Construction and Development of sustainable microfinance system Project in Vietnam until the year 2020, contribute to the reduction of poverty in the country.
The Vietnam Citi Microentrepreneurship Awards is an annual global activity funded by Citi Foundation/ Citi Bank Vietnam since 2007. The CMA has been held by Vietnam Microfinance Working Group Vietnam (VMFWG) with the support of Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (VINASME), State Bank of Vietnam and Banking Academy. The CMA has recognized the contributions of 340 typical microentrepreneurs, 114 excellent credit staffs, and 56 typical microfinance institutions in Vietnam. These have showed the importance and scale of The CMA as well as the benefits to microfinance activities in particular, and to the poor, low-income households in general in Vietnam.
This is the seventh CMA is held in Vietnam with the participation of more than 20 institutions countrywide. In CMA 2013, we have recognised 30 typical Microentrepreneurs, especially 01 Excellent Microentrepreneurs of the year awarded Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong , 5 excellent Credit Staffs and 10 typical Microfinance Institutions and 01 Microfinance Project in the Hunger elimination and Poverty reduction. In particular, Tinh Thuong One member Limited Liability Microfinance Institution (TYM) is awarded to the Excellent Microfinance Institution of the year and Thanh Hoa Fund for Poor Women is awarded to the Second Excellent Microfinance Institution with professional orientation.
The CMA 2013 was attended by former Vice State President Truong My Hoa, State Bank of Vietnam Deputy Governor Dang Thanh Binh, Vietnam Women’s Union President Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa, Government Office – General Economic Department Deputy Director Nguyen Manh Cuong and Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (VINASME) Vice President/General Secretary To Hoai Nam and 200 representatives from Vietnam Ministries, Central agencies and organizations, Programmes/Microfinance Institutions that are members of Vietnam Microfinance Working Group (VMFWG), Diplomatic Corps, international and local Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) and the winners of CMA 2013.
